Briana Stephen

I had an epiphany today while sitting in the oncologist's office. There's so much talk and paraphernalia about finding cures for cancer. There's bitter talk about why Heavenly Father would allow such suffering. I sat there thinking to myself, No. My heart tells me it's not like that at all! ... Think of the communities and families that have come together to love, serve, and mourn with one another.

Our Father in heaven provides opportunities every day for us to keep his commandments, to follow His ultimate example of serving, loving, caring for His spirit children, our spirit brothers and sisters. I get to experience firsthand on a daily basis how beautiful the hearts of mankind really are.

Turn off the news of contentious politics, crime, and adultery for a bit. You'll find a world of compassion. PLEASE ACCEPT MY GRATITUDE to all those who uplift and show me what leading a Christ-like life is really all about. Loads and loads of LOVE!!!

Well, we are currently in escrow for this property in Simi Valley. If all goes well, we close on March 18th. We look forward to your visit!

A Day at the Beach

While people in North Dakota were dealing with temperatures around 3 degrees, we were enjoying Carlsbad's 75 degree weather at the beach. The water is still too cold for my comfort, but it doesn't stop the kids from swimming or the men from surfing.

We love southern California!

The Only Constant is Change, Right?

Just four days before moving to San Ramon, Eric's company decided to realign territories. He will no longer be managing in San Francisco. Instead, we'll be heading to the coast of CA somewhere between Thousand Oaks and San Luis Obispo. Yep, we get to house hunt all over again. Not to mention, enroll the kids in school, find doctors, turn off and set up utilities, forward mail, register to vote in a new county, etc.... We had so much fun undoing all the work we did to move that I can't wait to do it again so soon! :) Seriously, though, we're excited about the change and are happy that we'll remain closer to family in AZ.

We sure love you all. It was lonely just thinking about moving away and knowing that we weren't going to see you as often.

Stay tuned....

Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon

Kade & Kami had fun running a mile in LegoLand. They would have been happy just doing that, but to make it an extra special day, they were able to stay and play for the whole day at no charge. Definitely worth a mile!

I had a lot of fun running the Carlsbad 1/2 marathon a few weeks ago and finished with a time of 1 hour 30 minutes. (I sure missed having you there with me, Chelsea, but I'm proud of you for getting out and running it on your own the day before.)

The next event is the 181 mile Ragnar Relay in AZ on February 29th and March 1st. Our team is made of people from CA, AZ, UT & PA. I'm sure we'll be exhausted after 24 hours of running and driving, but I'm so psyched! Bring it on!!!

Getting Kami to take a serious photo was nearly impossible. Having Aunt Cory and family around apparently had her a little wound up.
