We had a great time in AZ during the Memorial Day break. Everyone was there except April and her family who were definitely missed. It's been a long time since we've had all the cousins together at one time and after throwing Nate into the mix, I'm afraid of the decibel level we'd have to endure. Seriously, though, we need to schedule a family reunion for 2009. We miss you!
The weekend was filled with a trip to the Phoenix zoo, mountain biking, road biking, hiking, running, games, and great company. Thanks, Familia, for a wonderful time.

Xterra Malibu Creek Challenge
On Saturday, May 10th I ran my first trail race, a 14 mile run in the Malibu Canyon. With about 3300 feet of climbing, it had the most intense ascents and brutal descents I've ever run in my life. I enjoy a runners high after intense workouts, and this one was unparalleled in difficulty and beauty which made it all the more exhilarating! It was tough, but I was able to finish in 5th place overall out of women and 1st in my age category. I can't wait until next year. I think it's safe to say that trail running is going to be my new venture (now if I can overcome the fear of rattlesnakes and mountain lions.....).
