I had an epiphany today while sitting in the oncologist's office. There's so much talk and paraphernalia about finding cures for cancer. There's bitter talk about why Heavenly Father would allow such suffering. I sat there thinking to myself, No. My heart tells me it's not like that at all! ... Think of the communities and families that have come together to love, serve, and mourn with one another.

Our Father in heaven provides opportunities every day for us to keep his commandments, to follow His ultimate example of serving, loving, caring for His spirit children, our spirit brothers and sisters. I get to experience firsthand on a daily basis how beautiful the hearts of mankind really are.

Turn off the news of contentious politics, crime, and adultery for a bit. You'll find a world of compassion. PLEASE ACCEPT MY GRATITUDE to all those who uplift and show me what leading a Christ-like life is really all about. Loads and loads of LOVE!!!

Gavin is 5!

A few months after Gavin turned 4, his primary teacher at church gave him a belated birthday present, and ever since then he's thought he was 5. Finally, the day has come where we can say, "Yes, Gavin. You are 5!" We love him for all his desire to serve, for his hugs, warmth and independence, but most of all his infectious giggle that makes the world around him smile! Gavin, we are so lucky to have you in our lives! Love you, G-Man!

  1. I've had 3 boys turn 5 so far, and I can tell you the 5th birthday is DEFINITELY the most anticipated of them ALL. At age 3 they were still confused about birthdays, at age 4 they have little memory of turning 3, but a 4 year old turning FIVE certainly knows whats coming up. Cake, Ice Cream and new TOYS!

  2. Sorry we missed his birthday. I can't believe that he is 5 years old. We don't even know him very well because we have been gone sice he was born. Please give him a big hug and kiss for us and tell him happy birthday.
